Who are we?

We are the National Park City Foundation (NPCF), the registered charity (no. 1173267) working to make the London National Park City and other National Park Cities a success.

After years of campaigning London became the world’s first National Park City in July 2019. Launched with the support of thousands of Londoners, including the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, we are now growing a movement of people to make life in London better, and to deliver on the vision we have set.

We are a roots-up organisation with a passion for nature and the great urban outdoors.

We are established in London and are working to establish 25 National Park Cities around the world by 2025. All of this has been achieved by people volunteering their time, ideas and enthusiasm.

We aim to make London greener, healthier and wilder, to connect more people to nature and to promote the National Park City identity.

Purpose of role/s

We are going to build an ambitious London National Park City Wiki. Written by volunteers, partners and other contributors, the website will be a guide to the London National Park City.

A source of inspiration for exploring the whole of the city, as well as what’s being done to make it greener, healthier and wilder, the wiki will include articles about the London National Park City’s destinations, landscape, wildlife and places as well as people, projects, organisations and events.

Our ambition is to kick-start the wiki through a series of sprints this winter in which we will challenge people to create articles on specific topics such as London National Park City’s rivers, hills, mammals, skateparks, strategic footpaths or groups that are doing things to make the city greener.

We are seeking to recruit a small team of committed volunteers to help build, maintain and promote the wiki.

We need a team that will collectively:

  • Plan and set up the wiki

  • Act as the wiki master

  • Curate, edit and manage the wiki

  • Organise “sprint” weekends to source subject specific content and articles

  • Inspire and support volunteers and contributors

  • Promote the wiki

  • Write / create new content - i.e. researching, interviewing and writing articles

  • Review and edit written content provided by others

The wiki volunteers will report to a nominated Trustee of the National Park City Foundation and work closely with our existing Community Campaign Manager.
